This “party first” system, requiring more eloquence and skills in oratory than anything else, has put our parliaments at the mercy of lawyers, who have always had a disproportionate influence, when what was needed above all were men experienced in the life and work of the great industrial classes.

10.— The N.S.C.P., in recognizing every citizen’s right to own and increase his assets honestly, also recognizes his right to bequeath and inherit.

Under the present regime, it is a crime for a man to leave property, and an even greater crime for his children and grandchildren to inherit that property.  Governments confiscate immoderate proportions of inheritances without justifiable reason, thus discouraging every man’s legitimate ambition to outlive himself through the fruit of his labor entrusted to his children, and on the other hand causing a host of reprehensible abuses.
